The development of the Balinese Cultural Park stems from the idea of building a Balinese arts center project initiated by Prof. Dr. Ida Bagus Matra when he served as Director General of Culture, at the Ministry of Culture and National Education in 1969.
Occupying a land area of about 5 hectares, Taman Budaya Bali was originally named "Werdhi Budaya" which can be interpreted as an art center or art center. The development of this cultural park is well planned and also serious. The buildings are neatly arranged. This Balinese Cultural Park development adapts the philosophical meaning of rotation of Mount Mandara Giri, which is implemented in the name of the buildings in this complex.
The main building in the complex of Taman Budaya Bali is named Ksirarnawa. The name is derived from Sanskrit which means sea of milk. Embedding the name contains hope that every activity held can be thirst quench for the world of art and culture. The Ksirarnawa building itself occupies 5,500 square meters of land. Building 2 (two) floor is able to accommodate the audience up to 525 people.
Across from Ksirarnawa Building, there is another building that is not less magnificent. The stage-shaped building is named Ardhacandra. Ardhacandra himself means a half-moon circle, just like the shape of this building. Ardhacandra is an open stage that is generally used as a place to perform theater, colossal performances of Bali, drama gong, and various other arts activities. Occupying a land area of 7200 m2, Ardhacandra can accommodate an audience of about 7,000 people.
For smaller-scale performing arts, this Balinese Cultural Park also has Angsoka and Ayodya Folklore. These buildings are usually used by students who want to contribute to the development of art in Bali. Angsoka and Ayodya are generally used for dance, music and theater performances. On the other side, there is also space that holds various Balinese art objects such as sculpture, painting, mask, and also Balinese gamelan set.
