TEDEd Earth School - 30 Video Quests for Students to Celebrate Our Planet

Last week I shared a Collection of Earth Day Resources and earlier this week I shared a HyperDoc and Google Applied Digital Skills Lesson for Earth Day.

Today I wanted to share one last resource that is ready for teachers and students to use straight out of the digital box. Who’s ready for to go to Earth School?

TEDEd is one of my favorite resources to engage students with videos and the TEDEd Earth School is a great place to take a day, a week or even a month to explore our amazing planet. TEDEd has compiled a collection of 30 unique video quests to engage students in celebrating, exploring, and connecting with nature.

Welcome to Earth School! Embark on 30 adventures – or Quests – that will help you understand and celebrate our natural world, while learning about how dependent we are on our planet. Now more than ever, we need to protect, nurture and care for Earth – so join us to learn something amazing in every quest. Within each lesson, you’ll find fascinating resources compiled by Earth experts and ideas for getting involved in ways that count. Join us to learn more, create, act and share your journey (#EarthSchool) towards a cleaner and greener life.

All About Me - Heart Maps to Start the Year

I am always looking for creative ways to get to know my students. I also love creative ideas that we can use to introduce them to some of the tools we use throughout the year. The past several years I have modeled our use of Padlet with a 7 Pictures – All About Me Project. This year I was inspired by  Marwa Elkelani to try something a little different. We are going to start with some Heart Maps and get some practice with Google Drawings or Google Slides. A heart map is a visual map that uses drawing, text, shapes, and images to share feelings, people and places you love, memories, experiences, and more. These can be created on paper or digitally. I think Canva , Adobe Express , Google Drawings, or Google Slides could all be used to facilitate the creation of these digitally. I am going to focus on Google Drawings and Google Slides for this post. We use both Drawings and Slides to create during the year, so I love the idea of exploring these tools with students early in the school...
