The beauty of Mount Semeru in Java Land






Mount Semeru or can be called Mount Meru is a cone volcano in the province of East Java, Indonesia. Mount Semeru is the highest mountain in Java Island, with its peak named Mahameru, 3,676 meters from sea level or can be in brief (mdpl). Mount Semeru is also the third highest volcano in Indonesia after Mount Kerinci on the island of Sumatra and Mount Rinjani in the province of West Nusa Tenggara. At the crater at the peak of Mount Semeru already known by the name of Jonggring Saloko.





Mount Semeru is administratively included in the region of two districts, namely Malang Regency and Lumajang Regency in East Java Province. This mountain is included in the area called Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park. It took about four days to climb to the top of Mt. Semeru already gone and went home. To climb this mountain can be reached from the city of Malang or can also from Lumajang.





From the terminal in Malang can ride public transportation to the village Tumpang. Then connected again with a jeep or truck/pickup which is very much located behind the terminal market Tumpang and charged per person Rp20.000,00 up to Pos Ranu Pani. After arriving at the gate that read "welcome", On the beginning of the ramps slope, down the hillside that has been filled with reed plants. After walking 5 km along the hillside semeru very much overgrown with beautiful edelweiss flowers than will come to a place called Watu Rejeng.





Here there is a very steep rock is very beautiful. The scenery is also very beautiful towards the valleys and other beautiful hills, which overgrown with pine and pine forests. Sometimes also can see smoke coming from peak semeru and get to place Ranu Kumbolo still have to climb with distance about 4.5 km. In a place called Ranu Kumbolo can set up a tent. There is also a climber hut or often called the shelter. There is also a lake with water that has been clean and Mumbai so beautiful scenery, especially in the morning can watch the sun rise to the east on the sidelines of the hill.





There are also many fish, sometimes wild grouse. In Ranu Kumbolo is at an altitude of about 2,400 m with an area of 14 ha. Next journey into the forest that many tumbuhi pine trees and sometimes there are birds and antelope animals. This area is called Cemoro Kandang. In addition to ranu kumbolo can also camp in Arcopodo area, Arcopodo is located at an altitude of about 2,900m, Arcopodo is the last vegetation area in Mount Semeru, the rest and so will pass through the sand dunes.





From Arcopodo it is direct to the summit of Semeru and takes 3-4 hours and will pass the dune area is very very steep and easy to decline. It is recommended that all carrying luggage should stay in a place of Arcopodo or in Kalimati. The next ascent to the summit mounts semeru very early in the morning at around 02.00 am from the Arcopodo.
