Hegong Dance is a traditional dance from Maumere, Sikka, East Nusa Tenggara Province (NTT). This dance is usually played in groups by male and female dancers in traditional dress and accompanied by Gong Waning music. The Origin of Hegong Dance
Hegong Dance is a dance of the greatness of the Maumere community in Sikka District, East Nusa Tenggara Province (NTT). The history of Hegong Dance is still not known for certain, but according to some sources say that this dance was originally a traditional dance and often displayed in traditional ceremonies Maumere community. Hegong Dance Performance
Hegong dance is generally played by approximately 6 to 10 dancers, whether male dancers or female dancers and one person as a dance leader in the front. In this dance, the dancers will be equipped with ikun, lethargic, and also battens as an attribute in the dance. Ikun is a weapon that is like a knife and made of wood and decorated with a ponytail. In the first half, the female dancers will enter the arena to the accompaniment of Gong Waning music, followed by male dancers as they machete or porong. In the second half, male and female dancers will form a circle where the dancers will surround the female dancers. Then in the third round, the dancers will perform free movement. Usually in the third round is a creative movement that is combined with the rhythm of the music Gong Waning. Then in the final round, the dancers will re-form a circle and also as a cover, one of the dancers will be lifted up by using a bamboo.
Meaning In Hegong Dance Performance
